There are a *lot* of ducks on Denton’s property. They have refuge areas, and also hunting areas.

We went out to Robin’s friend’s husband’s (Denton) ranch and gave his dog Reagan a run around to practice retrieving birds.

A car ran a red light at California St and Hyde St and t-boned another car. The car that got hit had a 2.5 year old in the back seat who got roughed up a bit. Obviously his mother was pretty freaked out.

There were a few people there When we left, there were still hundreds outside trying to get in.

Nice and bright, and her candle doesn’t go out when you put the lid on (cause lots of air can get in)

I could have carved everything a bit deeper to make it light up better, but I’m pretty happy with this for a first-ever pumpkin carving!

I would hold it up under a light above my stove to get a preview of how the light was working. This was originally where I was going to stop.

I was originally going to carve outlines only, but then realized I needed to shave the skin off to get things to light up properly, so had to keep going.

Here’s what it looked like after I traced, then took off the template.

Robin opted for a more traditional one, with cut out eyes, mouth etc. She also added ears which were pretty fancy.

I decided to carve the guy from Pan’s Labyrinth who has his eyes in his hands. I drew something out first, then taped it to the pumpkin and went over the important lines poking a blade into the pumpkin so that I had something resembling a perforated line where I needed to carve things.

Wants to know what’s going on.

So we strapped her in

3 x Dell 30"(?) screens, side-by-side but vertical. This would make for some interesting coding. Oh – and the whacky ergo-keyboard as well, which I just can’t get used to because I don’t type properly.

I had a typewriter just like this when I was a kid, and used it to type up a complete (short) novel. I don’t know what happened to it over the years, but I came across it again at the SF MoMA, as a fine example of industrial design. Robin tracked one down and got it for me!
